COH Halloween Costume Contest Winners!

Thanks to all of you who entered the CoH Halloween Costume Contest! There were so many fabulous entries that, in the end, we really had to focus on the directives we gave players in order to help us judge.

In the end, (and per the contest rules), only those entries that were obviously taken in public, showed a FULL frontal shot (head to toe), and included a City of Heroes logo ON the costume, were considered.

Likewise, here were the criteria for judging: costumes were judged on creativity, difficulty (intricacy of design) and best recreation of the in-game character.

Without any more delay…here are the winners. Congrats one and all!

Best Overall Winner
Hellgeist
Seattle , WA
Classic, clean and beautifully heroic.

Best Overall Runner-up
Gyromiss
Ellettsville, IN
Creative approach in achieving an excellent re-creation!

Best Male Winner
Avro Arrow
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Big points for difficulty. Great attention to detail.

Best Male Runner-up
Null Op
Sacramento , CA

Not your ‘classic’ looking hero, but an amazing re-creation many wouldn’t have known how to approach (or dared to!).

Best Female Winner
Fire Dust
Walled Lake, MI
WOW. The amount of detail here knocked our socks off!

Best Female Runner-up
Deneige
Vancouver B.C., Canada
Another unique approach to achieving the costume. Recreation of pattern was most impressive – and how did she find a background venue that matched so perfectly???

Best Gargantuan Winner
Obsidian Faust
Sinking Spring, PA
Gargantuan heroes were by far the hardest body type to re-create costume-wise. Lots of time and effort paid off for both the winner and runner-up of this category.

Best Gargantuan Runner-up
TwoTone
Norristown, PA

Most Humorous
Louis Train
Johnstown, NY
Hands down, the most funny costume/character in the bunch!

Most Humorous Runner-up
The Exfoliator
San Francisco , CA

Who ever said personal hygiene and beauty wasn’t heroic?

Most Daring Winner
What’s your definition of daring? It was a hard one for us. Is it purely taking risks? Is it showing off lots of skin despite your body type? These were important questions we had to answer before judging this category. In the end, we stuck to our judging criteria and were still able to reward two types of daring costumes for different reasons:

Avonlea
Fairfax, VA
This cross-dressing effort left us in awe. A man, dressed so flawlessly as his female character…in the D.C. area with matching background venue. Yes, it’s daring and won top honors from us!

Most Daring Runner-up
Jericca
Kalamazoo, MI

So, we decided that showing off skin is in fact, pretty daring…but this was a costume contest. Therefore, we wanted to reward someone’s willingness to ‘let it all hang out’ so to speak, but who also put sufficient time and effort into the costume itself.

Great job by our runner-up winner at designing a daring top (that actually worked), re-creating the lower body design patterns, coloring her hair bright pink (that’s no wig!), and finding a matching background to boot.
